First there are so many different types of fairies. Any creature that has magickal powers and not a God or Goddess is sometimes thought to be fairies. I can begin by explaining the two most common groups that you can group most fairies into and that is Seelie or Unseelie. Seelie and unseelie fairies are two distinct categories of fairies found in Scottish and Irish folklore. The main difference between the two is their general disposition towards humans. Seelie fairies, also known as "blessed" or "light" fairies, are typically considered to be benevolent towards humans. They are known for their beauty, love of music and dance, and fondness for human celebrations such as weddings and harvest festivals. Seelie fairies are often depicted as helpful, providing assistance or gifts to humans in need.
